I’m Teresa, a visual communicator and photographer from Spain, currently based in Edinburgh.
My practice lives somewhere between storytelling, design, and emotion.
An Open Secret is not just a project; it’s a piece of me.
I believe in the power of tenderness, honesty, and vulnerability as tools for social change.
Through photography, I found a way to heal. Through sharing it, I hope others do too.
In June 2025, I graduated with Honours in Visual Communication, but it was during my final year that I truly discovered who I am as an artist.
While researching An Open Secret, I came across a quote by Lucy Lippard that stayed with me: “Art can change the world.”
That sentence changed everything. Until then, I had seen design as something beautiful, structured, and practical. But I started to understand that it could also be emotional, honest, and deeply human.
Through this project, and the conversations it opened, I realised that I could combine visual clarity with emotional depth. That I could create work that not only communicates a message, but also a feeling.
That art can make people feel seen.
That photography can hold space.
That design can speak with softness and strength at once.
The response to my first exhibition was overwhelming and healing.
Each photoshoot was a shared process of trust. Every visitor who wrote a message on the wall, who cried, who hugged me, reminded me why I want to keep doing this.
I now feel confident that I’ve found my way of being an artist.
And I want to keep building spaces like this, spaces that connect, hold, and speak.
